Christopher Morrison first studied glass with Bertil Vallien, at the Pilchuck School, in 1983. In 1984, he received his B.A. in Art from Hartwick College. Morrison then returned to Pilchuck in 1985 to study with Jon Eric Ritzman and Amy Roberts, and again in 1990, when he studied with Robert Carlson. He has worked at several major glass blowing facilities, including Tom Philabaum Glass Studios in Tucson, Arizona, and Chihuly, Inc. in Seattle, Washington. In 1992, Christopher Morrison began instructing glass blowing at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle in 1992. He then pioneered the educational program at Seattle Glassblowing Studio before building Morrison Glass Art, Inc. in Bellingham, Washington. Throughout his career, Christopher Morrison has continued to explore diverse sculptural possibilities in glass. An independent glass artist, he has created several commissioned installations for private homes and businesses. Christopher's art reflects his love of the rainforest and his commitment to present the beauty of the rain forest and nature in his glass sculpture. His sculptural series, "Heliconia", is his representation of a trip to the Costa Rican Rainforest. |
